Bible 201
Bible 201 is our weekly teaching and training time, where we delve deeply into many different biblical topics. While we look at some of the “what” matters in God’s Word, Bible 201 focuses more on the “why” and “how” of our daily lives as believers. This usually requires taking several weeks, if not months, to work through together. We ask and answer difficult questions, seeking to grow closer to Jesus individually and as a group, so that we may more fully embrace His mission for us.
Goals/Expectations – Week 3
Themes: What can we learn from US History about discipleship? Let’s examine the Reconstruction Era: The Emancipation Proclamation, The Freedmen’s Bureau.
Goals/Expectations – Week 2
Theme: How and when do church learners graduate to become something more Kingdom effective than perpetual learners?
Goals/Expectations – Week 1
Theme: Understanding the “why”, the” how”, the “when” and even the “where” are keys to productive Kingdom ambassadorship.
On Mission for Jesus
Themes: What do you want to do for Jesus and when will you be ready to do it? If you have been a professed Jesus Believer for years, you have been discipled with emphasis mostly to understand and discuss the “what” of the Bible and everyday living.
Ready for “More”?
Themes: How do church people know/acknowledge when they’re ready for “more”? What is the purpose of sermons, small groups, Sunday school, Bible 201/301? What do church people think is the purpose of all the learning that goes on?
What is Discipleship?
…and how do you know when you’re being discipled? Themes: Using “churchy” terms without knowing what they really mean. Western world vs. Eastern world expectations of learning a language. How do you recognize when you’re being taught? How do mentors and instructors know when you’re ready to graduate?
Praising the Lord – Week 2
Themes: Psalm 150: Be clear, boastful and jubilant! Make a show, rave about Yahweh, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. When there is music, respond in an obvious way that models and encourages others to express freedom when celebrating the Godhead.
Praising the Lord – Week 1
Themes: Joyful worship is for Jesus Believers. It may look strange to unbelievers. Attendance, punctuality, attentiveness, engagement are parts of genuine worship. Psalm 150: Worship is NOT the music and singing alone. You should not limit praising the Lord to only Sundays or in in a special building. Churches, church people and Jesus Believers should be obvious and sincere experts at worshipping the Godhead.
Prayer Training – Week 7
Themes: Creating a welcoming worship environment. Service, prayer and music should be enthusiastic and contagious. Spend time daily, regularly praising the Godhead.
Prayer Training – Week 6
Themes: Who taught you to pray? How did you learn to pray? Most modern-day believers were taught rote prayers as children, but there’s not much training to pray as an adult outside of seminary.
